The Marzocchi Shiver DC

The Shiver DC is Marzocchi’s upside-down (inverted) dual-crown downhill fork. The 2005 technical instructions describe it as a “dual-crown fork with ø35mm reverse legs”, 190 mm travel, a coil spring with mechanical preload adjustment in each leg and a 20 mm through-axle. It sits in the parts lists from 2001 to 2005. The single-crown Shiver SC is a different fork with 30 mm stanchions and is not covered here.

Damping, as Marzocchi describes it

• 2001 Shiver DC Race: mechanical coil spring system, stanchions integral with the wheel shaft pinch bolts and guided by long-life bushings inside the sliders.
• 2005 Shiver DC: HSCV cartridge with external rebound adjustment in both legs, coil springs with mechanical preload adjustment, aluminium steerer 1-1/8”, aluminium drop-outs fixed to the stanchion tubes.

Service notes

• The 2001 Shiver DC Race data sheet gives 300 cc of oil per leg, type EBH 16, SAE 7.5.
• The 2005 Shiver DC technical instructions specify SAE 7.5 oil (Marzocchi 550013), with the quantity in the oil level table, and recommend changing the oil at least every 100 hours.

Which seal kit fits

The parts lists of 2001 to 2005 name oil seal 528034 and dust seal 533167 (from 2002 also kit 850716). This is our Seal Kit 35 mm, the same seal size as the 2004–2007 888 and the 2005–2007 66.
