The Marzocchi 66

The 66 is Marzocchi’s long-travel single-crown fork. It first appears in the parts lists in 2005 and stayed in the range well beyond 2009. This page covers 2005 to 2009, the years for which we hold factory parts lists, exploded drawings and technical instructions.

From 2005 to 2007 every 66 uses 35 mm stanchions and a 20 mm through-axle. The Marzocchi technical instructions call it a “single-crown fork with ø35mm legs” with a “motocross type wheel axle support”. From 2008 the 66 uses 38 mm stanchions according to the seal chart.

There are no Marzocchi parts lists after 2007 in our archive. For 2008 and 2009 the models come from the exploded drawings and the seal chart.

Damping and springs, as Marzocchi describes them

• 2005 66 R: HSCV cartridge with external rebound adjustment, non-adjustable SSVF pumping element on the other leg, coil springs with air preload.
• 2005 66 RC: HSCV cartridges with external rebound adjustment and external compression adjustment at the end of travel.
• 2006 66 VF: SSVF pumping element with internal rebound adjustment.
• 2006 66 VF2: SSVF pumping element with external rebound adjustment, compression adjuster on the other leg.
• 2006 66 RC2X: RC2 cartridge with external rebound and compression adjustment, X cartridge with compression adjustment at the end of travel.
• 2006 66 SL: air springs in both legs, travel 150 or 170 mm set by the negative air pressure, with RC2 and X cartridges.
• 2006 66 Light ETA: air spring, RC2 cartridge, ETA cartridge in the other leg.

Exploded drawing and parts list

The exploded drawing and the parts list on this page belong to the 2005 66 RC 150. The 170 mm version and all other years have their own drawings and parts lists in the factory documents below and on Forks documentation. Compare the drawing number of your part with the drawing of your own year and travel.

Service notes

All Marzocchi 66 technical instructions from 2005 and 2006 specify SAE 7.5 oil (Marzocchi 550013) and recommend changing the oil at least every 100 hours. Oil quantities are given per leg, model and travel in the oil level table of each manual. The 2005 manuals show that the 150 mm and 170 mm versions differ by a preload tube inside the stanchion, which is how the travel change works.

Which seal kit fits

• 2005–2007 (35 mm): the parts lists name oil seal 528034, dust seal 533167 and kit 850716. This is our Seal Kit 35 mm.
• 2008–2009 (38 mm): our Seal Kit 38 mm, according to the seal chart.

One source lists a different oil seal for the 2006 66 VF. If you own that model, send us the number printed on your old seal before ordering.
